Building Costs

He guys! I've just received a quote on building costs in our area from an expat. builder. He says it's between $70 and $85 US /sq.ft.for interior living space (depending on finish products) and around $40 US / sq ft for outdoor space (patios, carports etc.). Walls for fence lines run about 7 dls a sq. foot.

Anyone find this high for the area or on point?

I'm thinking of going up one level.

Thanks.

Congratulations on the purchase of your new home.

My name is Bob. My wife and I have been living here in the Mexican Rivieria Maya

for the past 7 years. We were lucky enough to be one of the first to purchase a

home in Chan Chemuyil.

I supervise a construction crew working in the Chan Chemuyil development.

If you are looking to add improvements to your home such as patios, overhangs or

property walls, I would be happy to discuss the project with you and quote you a price.

I know that Carol and I have had conversations about limewash painting in the past. There is some information out there about this technique that we've read like Yucatanliving.com and some other sites. There is a faux technique but we are more interested in the simple and traditional limewash finish. I would love to know if anyone else, our contractors included, have used this application. Mark was playing around testing this with cinder blocks and hydrated lime. He bought a 40 lb. bag for $4. ...

Hola, everyone! I have just spent 2 hours looking through old posts and can't find any place that tells me what size the openings are for the fridge and stove. Maybe I've missed it somehow but, if anyone knows, I would really appreciate them posting it here. I am ready to order my furniture and appliances but need to know which ones I can fit in there. Muchas gracias.

Hi ,

We were just at the development and the backyards are quite small as I recall. We plan on a nice covered patio in our back yard as it will really be an extension to the tiny kitchen....and will lots of swimming at the beach. A community pool would be fun but will mean more hefty community association fees to maintain it.

The collectivo takes about 10 minutes to Akumal and another 10 to walk down to the beach. A handy snorkel bag and I'll be swimming in paradise again in no ...

I've slept on the cement beds and I have seen the cement furniture. We are thinking about adding a bath. Are bathtubs available or can we get one built with cement? Is that possible? We figured since our case already has 3 walls in the back that we might as well add on and make a master bed and bath. I don't want one of the flimsy tubs that some of the resorts have in them, you know, the flexible ones that might collapse!
